Making a bold, life-changing resolution always sounds good on January 1, but is often hard to keep as the year goes on. Goals made just a few days ago, on New Year's Eve, may already feel a little daunting. Sprinkling those promises made to oneself with a little moderation may help bring them down to a manageable size.

Have you ever set a resolution on 31st December for the coming year? Maybe you planned to stop eating donuts, start working out regularly at the gym, or even stop smoking. And yet only a few days into the new year you have broken that carefully thought out resolution, and you are back to your bad old ways. Your self esteem plummets again.
It's New Years Eve. It's the perfect time of year to set new goals and direction for your life. What would you like to be, do or have in 2009?
Goal setting is not enough. Underlying feelings regarding your goal signify subconscious support or conflict about your goal. Develop affirmations based upon your feelings to support your goal.
There is a proven human scientific fact why goal setting works. It's called the Reticular Activating System or RAS. It's the part of the brain believed to be the centre of awareness in human beings. It is situated at the core of the brain stem and extends from the spinal cord. Its function is to filter or screen the thousands of messages of information you take in daily and determine what information is important to you and what gets through to your subconscious.
Only 5% of people who set goals reach them! Are of a part of the 5% or the 95%? The choice is yours, but the only way to be a part of the winning group is to set goals that you will reach.
I didn't make New Year's Resolutions the last couple of years because I knew I wouldn't keep them. Well this year I was inspired to take a different approach. To make them fun and more about celebrating! My personal theme for 2009!
If you really want to achieve your New Year's resolutions this year try adopting the following seven-step approach. Step 1. Set yourself ONE major resolution that YOU are wholly committed to achieving.
Are goals and resolutions the same? I don't think so. Resolving to do something is just a blanket statement that it should be done. A goal, on the other hand, comes with specific components to ensure success.
